Specialty resins based on acrylic, methacrylic and styrenic monomers
Who we are:
The Specialty Resins Division of Mitsubishi Chemical America, founded in 1992, currently produces over 70 standard commercial and custom specialty product grades of coating resins based on acrylic, methacrylic and styrenic monomers. These resins, manufactured both in the USA and Japan using the suspension polymerization method, are designed to add value to the inherent properties of objects made from metals, plastics, and paper.
DIANAL coating materials have taken the largest market share in automotive topcoats and repair finishes, which require excellent appearance, durability, and resistance to chipping and acid rain. Increasingly, DIANAL resins are being used in hot melt, reactive hot melt, and anaerobic adhesives. DIANAL resins are also used to improve gloss and adhesion in inks and lacquers.

ACRYCON bead polymer from Mitsubishi Chemical have exceptional properties that are ideal for many applications. When mixed into a viscous syrup with methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomer, ACRYCON bead polymers can be molded to produce a variety of products. ACRYCON may be used with various molds, such as metal and silicone. Cast molding of ACRYCON is completed by adding heat and pressure to achieve the desired characteristics of the finished product.
ACRYCON™ Embedment Acrylic
Acrylic Powder for Castings
ACRYCON bead polymer is mixed into viscous "syrup" with methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomer and molded in various ways to produce a variety of products. Cast molding is done typically with added heat and pressure depending on the desired characteristics of the finished product, and ACRYCON may also be used with various molds, such as metal and silicone. Higher mechanical strength can be achieved with the autoclave method.
Acrysirup™
Reactive MMA
Acrysirup™ is a reactive liquid resin system that consists of methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomer with acrylic polymers that have been optimized for road marking. Harderners and catalysts are added when the system is applied, then curing by radical polymerization. Because Acrysirup™ contains multifunctional monomers, the cured coatings are very durable and have an excellent physical performance.
ACRYSIRUP™ Floor Coating Systems
Rapid Curing Coating System
ACRYSIRUP is a reactive resin system, which consists primarily of methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomer, acrylic polymers, mineral fillers and pigments, that under the correct application and curing conditions will give a durable and high quality finish which is 100% solids when cured.
DIACARNA™
Synthetic Wax
A synthetic copolymer of α-olefin and maleic anhydride and an ideal solution for a variety of applications. DIACARNA provides superior dispersibility than natural or other synthetic additives due to its polar maleic anhydride group and outstanding resistance to thermal degradation in high-temperature applications. DIACARNA is an ideal compatibility accelerator to facilitate the mixing of non-polar and polar species.
Diacron®
Toner
DIACRON™ polyester toner resins from Mitsubishi Chemical have very low energy usage and high-speed fusing, which offers great molecular weight control. The DIACRON™ color toner is non-magnetic, providing great durability. These resins have good anti-hot offset properties as well as good dispersion of ester wax. Additionally, the negative pole has great charge control. A major advantage of DIACRON™ resins is the eco-friendly low VOC release, which ensures odorlessness during coping. In addition, DIACRON™ toner resins are created through our proprietary suspension polymerization method that significantly reduces odor as well as leaving very few residual monomers. Mitsubishi Chemical’s pigment design technology has earned an excellent reputation of high-quality products with a robust product lineup, which includes a range of standard, low-, middle- and high-viscosity as well as high gel materials. With expertise in emulsification polymerization and coagulation control technology that can customize grain form and size, DIACRON™ toner resins deliver high resolution material through various development processes.
EMA Resin
Ethyl Methacrylate
EMA resins are used in various applications, from inks to coating. EMA resins are easily soluble in weak solvents.
FB-Series Resins for Toner Binder
Styrene-acrylic Resin
DIANAL FB-series products are styrene-acrylic copolymers for toner binders in copiers and printers. Dianal has a wide variety of resins which are manufactured both in the USA and Japan using the aqueous suspension polymerization method.
High Acid Resin
Many of DIANAL's high acid resins can be used in solvent systems. They can also be dispersed in alkaline water systems.
Hydroxyl™ Resin
Our hydroxyl functional resins have an OH value from 8 to 90. These products are used in applications from adhesives to urethane coatings.
iBMA Resin
Isobutyl Methacrylate
iBMA resins are soluble in aliphatic and alcohol solvents. Many have compatibility with long and medium oil alkyds.
jER™
